Car been bumped, but glass half full...

So the Vee had a little bump about 4 weeks ago [smilie=icon_cry.gif] some guy drove into me in traffic as someone else was letting me out. Not posted anything up as was a bit devastated to say the least. He bumped into my offside wing, clipping the wheel and the front bumper. At first I was worried it might be quite bad, I got in touch with Matt about a replacement bumper as I thought it was a mess, and I knew there weren't any left.

Luckily I know a really good bodyshop which I got recovered to, and once the ventureshield was removed it wasn't too bad. The guy was very confident he could sort it with his fibreglass expertise. A new front wing was required though which came from France pretty quickly. The lower suspension arm was replaced as was slightly damaged from the knock on the wheel, as was the hub and covers when they came to realign it on the super duper laser tracking system they have as it was half a degree out. Luckily the KWV3s were totally unaffected (though the garage thought they might've been and I'd have got a brand new front pair)

Now glass half full...

That evening I was getting my new front tyres, but as one got clipped I got a new front one for free as the sidewall had a chunk out of it. Also my Vee had some pretty bad stone chips, and as a result they've all gone. I was going to argue about the paint match all over, but as the bodyshop are so good they got a perfect match (I went to see it last week). The only thing I had to pay for was the bonnet done to look perfect, and the nearside wheel, obviously insurance wouldn't pay as the match was perfect and the bonnet on n/s wheel weren't damaged. All I need now is to get rid of the slash cut pipes and my Vee will be pretty much perfect [smilie=yay.gif]

In the meantime I was given a Chevrolet Spark by the insurance company, what a bag of crap that was. Though very enjoyable having to rag the tits of it to get anywhere and flying over speedbumps for a change. When I told the garage this they sorted me out with a 1.5dci Nissan Juke :approve:

I just got a message tonight to say it's ready [smilie=yay.gif] and after 4 weeks away I've really missed it.

For information the garage is Brian Leighton's in Howden, Goole. Unbelievable level of service, and a fantastic job. They used to be a Renault dealer, but are now Nissan. Their bodyshop has a fantastic reputation though and they get all kinds of exotica in. They also match LY perfectly (I've seen a few examples from them). Definitely one to put on the list if you need any paint jobs doing.

BTW - didn't start a thread back then as didn't want the pain reliving when I didn't know how long it would be until I got it back, just in case anyone was wondering

I'll get some pics of it when I get it, hopefully tomorrow or Monday

Must have been hart broken m8 glad it's sorted , what did they do with the old parts. You must not be that far from me if you went there

Dunno what happened to the old parts. Don't think the wing was economically repairable though.

Cheers Matt, so the next decent weekend? ;)

Defo matey. :race: :race: :approve:

Delighted to hear that your misfortune has been turned around Danny. A horrible feeling, seeing ones pride and joy damaged in any way. Even more so when it's out of your control.

Great to learn of another decent, conciencious repairer out there! :approve:

Sorry to hear this Danny, but on the plus side the guy who did sounded like he actually cared (makes a change) and it looks like you've found a great paint shop... One for the records!

Yeah they're really good. One of the guys is a Renaultsport fan and has a meg 250. I already lined them up for the front respeay anyway, this little hiccough just brought the work forward a few months

Cheers Shaun. I was just grateful it was a little tap and not a full front being taken off...

Sorry to hear, good to hear it not too bad, That's terrible that someone is paying so little attention while they are driving and run into you.... I seem to have issues like that when I am out i get the feeling people realise its your pride and joy and try silly stunts knowing that you aren't going to defend with your car like you would say in a works cavalier (or today's similar rep mobile), really bugs me.

With regards Brian Leighton garages they are brilliant, Carl who runs the bodyshop is meticulous I had my LY 265 trophy in for my front bumper realigned after it came from the factory wonky, tried a couple of dealers first who said they couldn't do anything with it, took it there bumper sorted and LY matched on some panels that were different shades he wouldn't settle for a it'll do match, between him and the paint rep they couldn't get a match as it is LY2 they ended up sending my filler cap to Renault in France (carl wanted to send it so he could get it right for future reference) to get a full colour breakdown, 3 weeks later sorted and looks right.
You get a full breakdown of what they have done when you talk to Carl, never known anywhere like it. [cmilie=iconcheers.gif]

Yep, Carl and Pete were both excellent. Know Carl from RS forum, he has a 250. Both top guys. Already lined them up for a couple of little touch up jobs, probably do them next spring though with them being minor stuff
