Can you overrev a V6

Will the Engine computer stop you overreving a V6.

In my RX-7, the car was reluctant to go from second into first at speed, so I left it in first all the time on autosolos ( Autotests).
No problems, no damage,and in fact a lot of carbon was blown out, improving performance.

Will the V6 take this treatment or will I bend some valves or worse ??

They do have rev limiters but I wouldn't personaly make a habit of going 2nd to 1st at any great speed unless you want to wave good bye to your syncros in a hurry. Mine always reved cleanly to 7,000rpm.

Yes, rev up the range is limited but never do and heavy down changes. I agree with Brett going 2nd to 1st or 6th to 4th-3rd etc. Its the same in any car 4, 6, 8, V or inline even age makes no difference. The road speed to engine speed is mechanical so can't be governed on down changes by anything electronic. This relates to any manual box car.

Overreving anything can be a engine destroying situation

Dog engagement and dual clutch boxes can but they are wonga for a vee! Lol

Didn't have any over rev issues as the V6 proved to be the most unsuitable vehicle for the autotest at Origine RS at Brooklands...as expected!! I should have taken a Routemaster

I saw Stephen Dell’s vid of the organiser’s classic mini doing the ‘trial run’ the night before and thought... ‘Vees can’t do that!!!’

Note to all concerned: the v6 motor has a bad habit of the pistons clubbing the head at revs over 8000 with the std rods, it may sound strange but the steel is slightly elastic and the overrev practice eventually ends up with a bill. Stronger rods will fix this but again involves a bill! strongly advise not to do it.
