Just need to pick your brains chaps...

The Vee needs its cambelt doing (MK1 Vee 29000 miles on an 02 plate)... I priced up doing it myself and the parts were nearly £500.00 + VAT from Reno... Plus it means I will have the hassle of doing it, car being off the road, poor access (no ramps), lack of stamp in the book which may affect re-sale value etc etc... So I've been to Reno to price it up...

Cam belt £900.00 (they knocked 10% off the book price)
Service £126.00
MOT £30.00
Water Pump £100.00 + £100.00 fitting...

So they want £1256.00 for the job.. I have no problem with any of it appart from the £100.00 labour to fit the pump considering the belts off etc... Cant be more than a 15min job.

Do you think thats unreasonable or am I getting a fair deal?

Its provisionally booked in for Wed next week!?

Cheers Ashy.

That's roughtly the price I got quoted a Reno. There are cheaper places/people on this site who can do it - check out pastthreads mate. SG motorsport seem reasonable.

it all sounds about right ashy except as you say the 100 pounds for waterpump fitting ! seeing as its all taken apart and just a short unbolt and refif job for the pump ! :approve: its just a way to claw back the 10% discount they gave you earlier!!!!!!

SG Motorsport are very reasonably priced and very helpful. Problem for me was the distance from my house.

Because of the distance I have my M2 booked in to have a similar thing done at the largest local Renault dealer.

Belt £900, 24,000 mile service £274, Waterpump £150 - including all parts for the jobs (belts, rollers, core plug, coolant etc) and VAT. There was also a 15% discount to do all the jobs at once taking it down to about £1,100 which I think is very good.

All I am worried about is getting the car back with a scratch on it as the paint as everyone knows is very soft !!

Do they have to take the rear bumper off does anyone know?

One further point to add is that if you get a good quote make sure they note the system as when I called to book it in the quote was for nearly £1,800. They did the correct thing though and stood by the £1,100.

Cheers.
