Cambelt due where to go???

Hi, my 255 cambelt is due in december, so im thinking about where to take it now and get it done in October as iv booked the whole month off work :approve: ?

Has anyone had any dealings wwith KTEC, i have been on their website and the price is showing £545 +VAT which looks a little cheap, if not can anyone recommend where to take it, im willing to travel up to 200 miles from swansea (Wales) and by budget is around £1k.

I did an oil and filter change on the weekend on the vee, and noticed one of the aux belt was showing signs of age, so want to get this arranged asap!

I plan too take mine to K-TEC as the price seems very good. m pretty sure they would take greater care with the car too as they are a specialist. I have visions of a boy roy trainee in a renault overall tinkering with my precious at the dealers. imo.

Whats the mileage mate?

£545 + VAT ................ now that is a good price :approve:

Maybe worth enquiring about the water pump and possibly a clutch at that price.

Keep us updated as the early mk2's are now due :approve:

My Vee is off to KTek this monday for the cambelt service at the quoted price.I used their services on my Clio Cup a few years ago and they did a fine job hence my willingness to travel so far again. Will let you know how i get on when i return tuesday and remember 5% discount on parts !

100% agree!!!

whilst your there you might aswell get it all done!

i highly recommend SG Motorsport in Wiltshire. Top notch service!!! Scott did my cambelt and the cars never felt better since. :approve:

Agreed, Scott @ SG did my cambelt (MKII) and did a fine job on some other bits too!

I hope to not tread on anyone's toes here, [smilie=hide.gif] but I was not impressed at all with K-Tec's work. I found it to be rushed and careless, particularly considering how much money I spent. I had a PiperX, QS Sport, and Carbon Lorraines fitted (brakes have now been since binned for several reasons).

I had to drive all the way back there from London the weekend after to get them to sort something out due to their sloppiness.

PM me if you want more details as to the particulars biagioni1.

Once again, I know some people like the guys and K-tec, but I'm just telling of my bad experience.

Phil. :)

I think you may find that K-Tech do not drop the engine to do the cam belt - they do it in situ, so there is not much saving to have the clutch done at the same time, except for the saving on the labour of removing the undertray.

Might be worth talking with KTEC to see if we can get a discount for a set number to be done, perhaps? Mines not due till 2010 but still at the back of my mind (mostly because I'm tight) :)

Okay Dave ,back from KTec with cambelt kit fitted and Pipercross Evo fitted whilst the car was in bits.
All is well so far and the induction kit sounds awsome. My old belt and pulleys looked as new and totally spotless but with 3000 miles i suppose it was to be expected, the belt did feel a little harder than a new one but i have piece of mind now for 5 years.
Ktec cleared any fault codes and topped up liquids as part of the service and the 5% discount on parts was honoured by them.
The job did take longer than expected but there was a part missing from the pipercross kit ( reducer ) which had to be fabrocated by them hence the half day delay.Pipercross will forward the missing part to me but i was given the option of returning to have it fitted by them.
They need your car for the whole day for the cambelt but they will drop you off nearby and collect you once the jobs done within reason ( i was stopping 8 miles away )
All in all the jobs a good un with no complaints, give them a call ask for Dave Kirk.

Ok, great, ill get the car booked in, got a month off work starting 27/09 :D

How much did they charge you for the induction kit fitted? Iv seen it on their website and quite fancy one.... as well as their exhaust system and a remap....i best go check the piggy bank.....

Dave,

The kit cost £210+vat. Fitting was £29+vat.With labour charges of £50 per hour looks like just over half an hours labour charges.
My bill for the cambelt service and Evo kit was £893 including 5% discount off parts.
I was offered their exhaust and remap but my stock system is in good order so maybe later on of funds allow.
Enjoy your month off !!!

Went to ktec yesterday for the cambelt
The car was dropped off at 8:30 am and i got it back about 6:20pm due to a sheared engine mount bolt making the job longer then expected.

I also had a pipercross evo fitted at the same time, gave up waiting for one to come up second hand

All good and the cheapest about for the job :approve:

Cool. Think I'm going to take mine there when its due too then.

Not sure how they can do it that cheap. The kit at trade is arojnd 250-300 unless they get them cheaper. Suppose once they've done one others are fairly easy to do. Not until 2010 so gives me abit of time to save the pennies up for it.

Did you do the trip there and back in one day? Long way to travel.

Nice one Dave, glad it all went well for you down there.
Great service and price from K-Tec just a pity they are so far away from me.
