The Renault dealer I use (or intend to use when the cambelt is due in 2012) is fantastic. Fitted my seats in less than an hour and gave me a 20% discount on their quoted price. The service boys went mad for the Vee and I was allowed in the workshop where they talked me through exactly what they were doing. They all seemed like genuine enthusiasts and everyone I came into contact with had a real passion for the Renaultsport brand.
I walked out of there with more money in my pocket than I thought I would have, a belly full of tea and biscuits, knowledge of the capabilities of a 200 Cup (mentioned I may want a runaround in the near future) and some great advice from some genuinely knowlegeable chaps.
I, as I'm sure we all do, worry excessively over anyone touching me Vee. To have found a dealer that
a) paid me so much attention (put my old seats in a van and followed me home...)
b) rolled out the red carpet as it recognised (one of) the pinacles of Renault achievements had just driven up
c) let me onto the shop floor and talked me through everything they were doing and why
d) did a fantastic job for a price that was less than initially quoted.
In my opinion I don't mind paying a bit more to have peace of mind and the knowledge that if anything goes drastically wrong Renault themselves will (hopefully) be able to mop up the mess. In this instance I actually paid substantially less for that piece of mind.
Oh and they even threw in a free health check, which Yay passed with flying colours.
I'm not saying all Renault dealers are as good as the one I've found, or that all independents provide a sub-standard service, but I think that each company should be assessed on their merits rather than by the name they do business under.
