For the V6, i would only take the car to SG...it's a matter of trust.

That's a heck of a distance for you Ali to go.

Whats the alternative sir?

Renault - lol. Pass
Ktec- Sorry but with GDi under the umbrella i wouldn't and couldn't use them.
BenR - Same as above, too much sktchy reviews and it took him wks and wks to do my old inlets.

As you know my cars been used! It makes no difference to me if it doesn't have a full RSH...I'd rather have someone like Scott do it for the same cash if not less than Renualt. (However i appreciate what your saying)

We only have two mechanics here that work on the V6s, Paul and Mike. Both are very experienced and Renault trained, and when they are not working on customers cars they are working on their own creations.

David.

I know K-Tec have many many happy customers, repeat custom mostly too! :approve:

But as far as my vee is concened, there's a minimum 1 mile exclusion zone around Mr A. C. I've seen evidence of his work on v6's, scary to put it lightly. Good hear he's NOT one of the guys you have working on vees Dave. But him merely being there, in the same building puts me off.

The Renault dealer I use (or intend to use when the cambelt is due in 2012) is fantastic. Fitted my seats in less than an hour and gave me a 20% discount on their quoted price. The service boys went mad for the Vee and I was allowed in the workshop where they talked me through exactly what they were doing. They all seemed like genuine enthusiasts and everyone I came into contact with had a real passion for the Renaultsport brand.

I walked out of there with more money in my pocket than I thought I would have, a belly full of tea and biscuits, knowledge of the capabilities of a 200 Cup (mentioned I may want a runaround in the near future) and some great advice from some genuinely knowlegeable chaps.

I, as I'm sure we all do, worry excessively over anyone touching me Vee. To have found a dealer that

a) paid me so much attention (put my old seats in a van and followed me home...)
b) rolled out the red carpet as it recognised (one of) the pinacles of Renault achievements had just driven up
c) let me onto the shop floor and talked me through everything they were doing and why
d) did a fantastic job for a price that was less than initially quoted.

In my opinion I don't mind paying a bit more to have peace of mind and the knowledge that if anything goes drastically wrong Renault themselves will (hopefully) be able to mop up the mess. In this instance I actually paid substantially less for that piece of mind.

Oh and they even threw in a free health check, which Yay passed with flying colours.

I'm not saying all Renault dealers are as good as the one I've found, or that all independents provide a sub-standard service, but I think that each company should be assessed on their merits rather than by the name they do business under.

Very well said.

Well said mate - exactely the same here. The Renault guys at Preston look after my car really well and have done since I owned my phase 1. They did my cambelt and knocked me 20% off all the parts used. Just booked in for service on Monday for 120quid! I know there are horror stories about some dealers and garages but it should go on reputation and prior experiences with them.

This, twinned with an inherently cautious approach, has served me well over the years.

Good to get confirmation that Yay was well looked after under your ownership :) :approve: :approve:

Thanks to Taipan I used his local dealership for a service and other work and they were all of the above. Also it was cheaper than what they quoted and ended getting about another 10% off the quoted price which was already 20% off Renault prices and a lot cheaper than an independent I enquired with. Well do a write-up when I get a chance. As for K-tec they have been 100% honest and willing to discuss matters further which is of great credit to them.
