Cambelt at Ktec Racing

Just booked it in for the full cambelt/aux belt and waterpump change. £1048 all in. Will be done in one day and I also get an R26r to run around in all day.

Not a bad price and I have used Ktec before and they have always been spot on.

May be worth validating this, and any details, but I heard of a vee belt they did snapping and causing lots of damage and expense ...

Hope all goes to plan then Kevin!

My vee wont be going near them all the time I have it my ownership.. lol

Just my choice and opinion bud.. :race:

For the same reason Martin has mentioned, and other feed back i've heard about them regarding the v6. Ok for 2.0ltr Clio's.. but would leave it at that.
Also not so sure the 'GDI' connection has warmed me to their 'hands on' services. Just hear say, as I have never had any dealings with them personally, just going on what i've read both on here and ClioSport.net. Like i said, my opinion only.

If you've had work done there before and you're happy with their service, thats all you can ask for really!

Ok

After your advice I am taking it to Angelworks. I did get in touch with Ben but he had been so busy and had not heard anything for a long time. Anyway, I spoke to him last night and its all on. I have used him before for a belt change and he done a brill job.

Kevin,

Did you ask K-tec about the cam belt failure ?

There is not much information posted publicly here about it and it would be interesting to hear their side ... but anyway, you have elected to take it elsewhere - which maybe gives you peace of mind ...

Got mine done at main dealers for that price with O.E parts and that all important stamp !!!!

Had no problems, and i'm very fussy with my cars.

Guys, we have not had a cambelt snap but I will be honest and say we did have an isolated incident of a belt slipping due a lose idler bolt. This unfortunately resulted in a few valves touching the pistons but we carried out all the repairs under our warranty. We have not had any issues since or before.

We work on many, many V6s as well as many other Renault models and a quick scan through our Blog entries will give you an idea of the work we do on them, with customers travelling far and wide for us to work on their cars. Yes we had this issue on 1 V6 and it i was by far the worst failure we have had in over 9 years. I would like to think we handled the repairs in a professional and timely manner (once we were able to source some valves) and did not try and pass the blame onto anyone or anything else. I often think the test of a good company is how this deal with an issue and this is something we always stand by.

I have to say that alot of what has been posted on Cliosport is absolute nonsense. Most of the time only one side of the story is told and even then many important details are left out. I will not say any more than that but I am always happy to fill in the gaps should anyone want to discuss anything they have read about us on a forum.

Kevin, I am sorry that in this case we have lost your custom due to what you have heard and I hope this goes some way to setting the record straight.

This is exactly the route I'll be taking! Evidence shows K-Tec read these boards so this is just my opinion, but I've heard to many stories with other car clubs to make me want to take it to them..Not even my 5 GT Turbo!!!

Fair Comment from K-Tec...... Ok, they had a problem, but unlike a few dealers, they sorted the problem out in what appears to be a professional manner. At the end of the day, that deserves some respect in my books.

I just checked my service history, and it was K-Tec that did the cambelt on mine.

I would just like to reply to this post by saying that there is always two sides to every story and we would be happy to put our side across to any story that has been aired, given the chance.
