there are a lot of guides for CAD. Depends on what you want as an end result.

SoftImage was the one that I know about , but there are thousands. AutoCad another .. Each brand claims its the best ..

I've had a 3D scanning place quote me £250 to scan in a part (plus VAT) and provide the 2 .stl files (2nd one mirrored for the other side) for 3D printing, wondering what the print costs would be....it's plausible I think.
