Burning Cluch

Chris V6

New Member
I have just picked up my new V6 and when reversing it into the garage there is a bit of a slop, I crept it in to avoid bottoming it out and in doing so when I got out there was quite a strong smell of clutch.

Do V6 burn there clutches that easily, and should I be worried that I know have no clutch left ??

Thanks

Ive had my vee for 15months know and have never had the dreaded
clutch smell, even after driving hard from junction and lights etc.

Are you sure its the clutch?

Yes I am sure its the clutch, I used to work for a car hire firm and "ran" many a new car in !!! recognise the smell well. The only speed a hire car does is the fastest one it can !!

I did hold it on the clutch all in all for about a min as I pulled it up into the garage???

It should only smell if it is slipping either by launching or riding it, both are to be avoided imho. Best not to keep the clutch pedal depressed for long periods either as it puts pressure on the release bearing and also the crankshaft thrust bearings! Martin
