since getting rid of the Williams 2 i got it in my head i wanted a clio v6 but after looking around most of them needed a cam belt change and there were another few things that i was not happy about on the cars :( plus i would of got myself in more debt. So i have always wanted a Renault 5 gtt after looking i found one with low mileage and been very looked after it had loads of history, mot's, it had a full respray and engine rebuild with loads of new bits including a turbo about 10 years ago but since then it only done 1100 miles and sat in the garage and only used now and then so everything still looks new
The car has 75000 on the clock with old mots as proof its currently running at around 150bhp has a few upgrades hybrid turbo but not over the top really pulls well no knocks nothing, done about 150 miles yesterday and im over the moon with it right little go kart and feels as fast as my Williams was to.
really checked around and there no rust the floor underneath has been treated so very happy, always loved them and i am glad i got this now and it only cost me £2300 so happy days
just needs 4 new tyres as they have cracked

here is a few pics

Welcome to the GT turbo fold mate. Few owners on here with them now :) get rid f the bonnet though and it'll be lovely. It'll keep you busy in the garage though... :)

- washer bottle needs swapping and it looks like your perc fan needs the fuse adding (it was a renault recall edition as they were setting on fire) not to scare you. If you need anything give me a shout.

yeah i really don't know much about these cars yet would like to know exactly what has been done on this its a 1987 d reg by the way and used to be pearl white

i know about the cooling issues and things and i do prefer the normal bonnet but them vents do serve a purpose in keeping it cool under there

never knew you lot had them :) really i would like to put a boost gauge in as i am boosting high plus i wouldn't mind sticking it on the rolling road to how things are running

Standard engines need to run hot but if cooling system is sorted and therm stat opens ok it shouldn't go much above half way on the temp guage. Any higher past third line then you're running in to trouble. Cooling would be the first thing I'd sort mate. Whe. You flush it and refill (renault pre mixed is good stuff) make sure you bleed the system through properly as its a nightmare to do. Hold bottle up high and release both bleed nipples. Run it until fan kicks in so you know fluid is all round the engine.

If you're running higher boost you need to make sure your fuelling is et up ok on the standard carb. If not you'll have problems on high boost. :approve: :approve:

It's a learning process with these cars mate. Get on RTOC as loads of help and advice on there too.

Yes I thought electric blue was jut used on the phase 1 as was pearl white.

You could get electric blue and pearl white phase 2's but they were rare ,I think you can only find them on a E registration ,presuming that was the only year it was available .

Yeah the cooling is spot on mate just been changed to and was told its all been set up right if anything it's running a little rich which I have read is a good thing

Not sure yet want a original badge for the back, getting some new rubber all round tomorrow could only find uniroyal in the the rare 195/55/13 size thinking in taking it to reputable gt tuner and seeing what it's running the take it from there:) like a little go kart these things lol
Still want my v6 at one point in my life to

Looks lovely matey. Seen it on ebay. Good project base with good mileage and the right colour :)

Are you thinking of putting it back to phase 1 electric blue hero status? Seats, bumpers, rear arch mouldings, carpet etc.
Or keeping it on the phase 1.5 theme?

But I would deffo de-smooth the bumpers and de "cool louvre" the bonnet.

I am currently rebuilding 2 GT's so any help/questions just ask matey.

Late electric blue GT's are commonly known as phase 1.5 as strangely there was a cross over in parts and most finished on e plates but there are one or two f plates out there. Look at the above example it has phase 1 washer tank and phase 1 front suspension struts but phase 2 kit, interior, bumpers (albeit smoothed), rear arches and under light trim, spoiler etc

Pearl white phase 2's are full phase 2 spec and go upto h plates. Here's are 2 lovely examples for sale at the moment:

Cheers for all the info mate the car was first registered on the 1/1/1987 the bloke I bought it of said something about a 1.5 phase is my car one ? Having trouble at the mo sourcing some rubber only place that stocks 195/55/13 is Germany, I have a spare set of Williams wheels here but think I prefer the original look with the 13s
