Vee has been in for a caliper re-spray and whilst there they had kindly offered to change over my disks and pads (apec + red stuff) as my calipers were to be removed anyway.

Collected it on saturday with the chap saying they had trouble bleeding the brakes...? so I started her up and had a feel..

There was so much pedal travel something was definately wrong... Anyway decided to get her home and get my Reno mechanic to check it over enroute home

It turns out and I knew something didn't look right on collection, that the front calipers were on the wrong sides and consequently upside down! [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

No wonder they had trouble bleeding them with the bleed nipple on the bottom edge! Top notch mechanic they have ah..

Other than that the job they did was top notch, all four now look vgood and ill post pics once there on correctly.

That's pretty bad to be honest.......THE most basic form of mechanics. I mean how did the expect to bleed each calliper from the bottom????

Also, did you know there are 2 bleed nipples per caliper? I bled mine with a high pressure vacuum pump and they still wouldn't bleed properly without doing both bleed screws.

Holy sh1t!!

If they charged you for this then you need to name and shame before someone gets hurt or possibly killed. If they don't know what they are doing they should not be messing with any form of safety system, brakes or otherwise. The word competent comes to mind as well as trading standards!!

these guys are seriously dangerous!!

They didn't charge me for the whole job and offered to pay bill from my mechanic to re-fit and bleed.

Basically I should have had my mech. fit the calipers after they had sprayed them, but the timings didnt work out and they (BS) said they would do it, no problem! so i agreed..

The spray work they have completed for me over the past year and half has been outstanding, the best ive found (SE).. so feel bad naming and shaming..

Lesson leant, dont let them do mechanical.

Lucky break m8 ad lie you say they where only trying to help, and if you say they did offer to pay, then fair doo's to them for holding there's hands up, I think I would be the same as you and not name or shame them but learn a lesson and remember they are a good BODY shop and hats who it should stay and have a good laugh about it, I would and called them a few things but ha ho no one hurts only pride :approve:

James, I think the stickers where applied before install, but yes that was my initial worry when realizing they had to be swapped..

But of course the calipers only have one leading edge, so once swapped all will be fine.

'AP' part of decal starts at bleednipple end on both..

I do hope they are fine coz they are laquered...

I surpose I should post before and after pics for everyone to laugh at!

This means one decal will be upside down and the other ok [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

I know what you mean about bad mouthing companies and I agree to an extent. However, would you let the local paint and decorator remove and refit your boiler to paint it? If your not competent DON'T even suggest doing it in my opinion.

For Peace Of Mind All Brakes Are To Be Checked And Fronts Swapped By Rte Renault Mechanic Tomorrow!
Plus Spike Fuel Pump :race:

I am suprised they didn't roll the car on to its roof so the bleed nipples were at the top! they could have blown the damage in.
