Black / Gold on Pistonheads

Had to go to Hampshire today for work so thought it would be rude not to have a tyre kick / do some club snooping, as it was just down the road :)

Pistonheads

Prior to going, I sent them an e-mail to check that it was ok to turn up and to see if the cambelt had been done yet (they confirmed that it had).

Turned up today and was very impressed with the garage, with the forecourt full of Porsches, Mustangs and other performance cars. The Vee was given pride of place in the showroom next to an AC Cobra and Lamborghini Diablo replica so all good :approve:

It seemed to be in good nick, quite a few stone chips on the front bumper and a few other light marks but overall it looked well cared for by the 1 lady owner. When I asked to see the paperwork though it became clear that the cambelt hadn't been changed. Not a massive problem for me but I would have been well annoyed if I'd gone all that way specifically to see the car :ihatepcs:

The guy I spoke to seemed quite apologetic for what it was worth! Doesn't sound like they will budge on the price either as it's recently been discounted by £1k.

IMO, still a bit overpriced considering the mileage and the forthcoming service!?!?

yup another one i have enquired about more to see what sort of car they're offering... this was their response to me :

The cam belt is not due to be changed, either on mileage or time. Hence, it will not be changed as part of the sale.
The service history is all Renault
There are no stone chips on the front bumper which would detour you from purchasing the car

When i pushed more on the cambelt they said as far as they're concerned the cambelt isn't due for replacement until 60000 miles and not before and they categorically stated they won't be doing it as part of any sale, nor will they be offering discount for it. i think with no part exchange there was a small indication of a possible discount on the price, but nothing concrete!

interesting about the stone chips - they reckoned it had a good unmarked front end ;)

Hmmmmmmm, Interesting! I was also told that there was no negotiation on the price only for it to be reduced by £1k the following day :s

There's a good number of stone chips on the front but it's not too bad, I don't think stone chips and black paint go very well after all :)

"do some club snooping"

So most importantly what plaque number is it?

This is the one "completely unmolested factory specification" with a black petrol cap and fancy calipers?

Yes thats the one James! No idea on what number... i asked on the phone and the first chap was like a chocolate teapot... i asked twice in my emails but that part was ignored...

I've asked various car salesmen for the plaque number "behind the seats"

They replied we can't take the seats out sorry.

Of course it is number 276.

I'm afraid I couldn't get the plaque number as it was impossible to get into the car :( There was a huge neon sign on one side and a Diablo on the other. I didn't fancy putting a hole in either!

Will try and find out though :)

I think Sammyturbo was going to have a look at this one before he got his IB one? Not sure if he was able to get the plaque number though?
