So then ,

Do we prefer the initial impressions of this new forum , and frontend , or do we prefer the old one ?

I'll reserve judgement till I see what it can do. I've seen what the PHP boards can be extended to and its hugely impressive, so if this is newer I do have high hopes. First impressions are good though!!!

We do need a link to return to the forum in use at the bottom of the threds though, as thats where we are returned to after posting.

i do like the new forum even though i was only on the old one for a couple of weeks the it was a bit dated as i say apart from my 21t out with the old in with the new good job must of gave you a headache though

i wish the body work on my 21t looked as mint as DaveL485 21t clean looking must look after it well

Thanks mate (be careful though my ego will explode if stroked LOL)

My Quaddie is non-too-shabby an all.....

somebody said no

Thats fine , but i would like to know why if possible. Its far more important to understand why people dont like things , and how i can cure it than all those that say yes.

If you want to pm me you can ...

I like the look of the new forum, but today and last night its gone down on me more than a cheap hooker.

why on earth has the old forum not been simply converted to vbulletin? All usernames + posts + forums could have simply been moved over to this....

yup -

Database error
The database has encountered a problem.

I have to refresh the page 10 times before i get anything ;)

Personally, I wouldn't touch vbulletin with a virtual stick :064:

In VBulletin's defense - it is not the software thats causing the problem it is the 'max_connections' setting on our hosting companies MySQL server. It did EXACTLY the same thing when we put phpBB on their servers too if you remember. I managed to find a workaround for that one as I am doing with this one so bear with us please. :o

I think people will be impressed with the features we have got lined up for the new forum!! ;) ;)

I find it astounding then, that Joff, the 'old but nothing wrong with it' forum maintenace man wasnt actually consulted when the switch to this was made.

Just a suggestion instead of removing the old one before actually getting this one running right, surely its best to wait, get it ready with all its bells and whistles attached, so that you can launch it on us all, problem and glitch free.

I cant think of anything that is launched as half a product with the provider promising 'Oh you'll like what we've really got planned, in the meantime sorry your 'car' doesnt actually drive anywhere we've still yet to master that'. lol

As for wanting to make a clean break, what exactly was wrong with the old fora that meant you wanted to 'clear out the crap' or whatever phrase was used?

I dunno............

I feel this new forum should be an improvement, I didn't feel the old one was past its sell by date but the lack of members content from the top menu bar was a bit dissapointing.
I just hope that the worthwhile and useful posts from the previous forum can be added to this one as there was some good information posted.

have to agree with joff and lee atkins on this one,, just needed to upgrade the fora with new add ons to what we had, which had been asked for several times,,, or as the other comment ,,was to get this up and running then swap,, ime sure we all appreciate the time and effort thats gone into this so far, as atleast something is happening..

and personaly i will say the change wasnt to pacify people,,as "we" didnt know this was happening(just thought we were gettin an upgrade to the existing,as thats what we were told on the forum)

r we gettin a website aswell or just an updated new user freindly fora??

will just keep watching what happens
