Battery draining

Dottyv6

New Member
Hi boys and girls,

Just wandering if anyone can help the battery on my v6 is draining I located the problem down to a 60 amp fuse under the bonnet number 10 but I can't find any info at all about what these fuses are used for any answers much appreciated as I am sick of having to disconnect battery every time lol

Cheers Liam

Hi Liam,

Not much mention of these fuses on the forum. They are noted as being engine, injection fuses. We had just one case of fuses being corroded and a new fuse box cured his problem.

Liam,
the bigger fuses are used to fuse groups of smaller items that are then fused seperately, pull the fuse then see what does not work, i.e see which circuits are dead , them pull those fuses unil you find the culprit. part of that circuit you mention is the ecu and fuel pump, so a lot of work but will be well worth it.

Thankyou for the replies dont know if this will help a little but when the fuse is out car won't start but pull while car is running she still runs fine

So its not the ECU then, i would look at the starter circuits, does it turn over without the fuse?

Wouldn't it be sensible to take up membership to have full forum access? I'm sure you'll find that the answers to most of your questions are just a finger-tip away...

If the starter turns but will not start the car it could be the fuel pump.

Think about it, if it runs and still runs when you take the fuse out it aint the pump!

I think this would be a good move!

Just an update my uncle had a look and I think we've solved it, it was all down to a looses earth connection, I have since left the battery connected and car stood for 14 hours this would usually not start but this time it did no bother gonna leave it for 2 days see what happens

Might be a battery related problem Liam again?

Changed the battery yesterday mate still just a clicking noise, suspect it might be the starter motor so I'm hopefully gonna have a look today and do a few tests but the only thing is I don't know where it is lol
