Baby Wipes...

Don't laugh,

A few years ago I bought an 18 month old Porker with 7k on the clock. Chap I bought it off had just had a £1800.00 service bill. As the main dealers only change the oil & filter and check stuff, a large proprtion of the invoice was for new discs & pads all round (not covered by the warranty) He told me that he religiously cleaned his car every week with the aid of a jetwash, meticulously cleaned the wheels and drove it back in the garage. Big mistake - as the discs didn't get hot and evaporate any moisture they basically had rusted away to the point they required replacement. As I've just had mine back from Scotts with refurbed wheels and new discs & pads all round didn't want to make the same mistake. Solution - big pack baby wipes (no need to bother with branded ones - own brand supermarket's will suffice) :approve: and I haven't used a jetwash. Simply used a couple of these on each wheel and the job's done. Plus the discs etc don't get rusty and for an added bonus for the real perves the wheels smell nice ;)

Just a thought.

Aren't there hash acid based cleaners in baby wipes though? (Nitric acid, if my memory serves me correct)

...great tip though.

I knackered a set of discs by treating myself to a single winter run. It rained, I didn't dry the discs... by spring they were knackered. Would be exactly the same with washing.
