To help you out.

Cash sales invoice from my local renault dealer on 22/09/06 says £37.03 + vat (per coil) with description reading P R96 33 001 580 320603 COIL IGN for the part - hope this helps

May be worth a group buy ?

Enter Peter stage left ?

It is an interesting idea but IMO we need to keep the campaing up for FREE replacements on all coils. [smilie=evil.gif]

Always worth keeping a spare.

I use mine all the time not just in fine weather.

Peter, how are you getting on with replacements then ?

I was flatly refused any recompense towards my coil failure even after some complaining. :(

We need to complete the log of all failures then get back to RUK.

Not so sure, has anyone had a actual replacement coil go down.

My first replacement has now covered 50k miles and the others 20k.

Looking at cost including new connectors and availabilty.

When I looked at a group buy could not get any discount plus delivery could be up to 8 weeks

Costs are very similar and the Trophys are significantly better. It just wouldn't make sense to me to spend all that and run the risk when there is something much better available.

As long as someone has original coils they're waiting for them to go anyday. It's okay to get 1 or 2 under warranty but once you get passed that you could be looking at the possibility of changing the rest sooner or later and paying for it yourself.

My point is that anyone changing all 6 should go for the Trophys, even if they're a little dearer.

See 3 above £26 a coil, not sure + V.A.T. or not.

Overall it looks like 50% cheaper.

As I said before has any one had a replacement fail ?

bought my 2002 v6 clio from a renault dealer 8 months ago, 2 months later i had the coils go, my mate who has a toyota garage stuck the diag''' machine to prove this... went to renault to say what the problem was and they turned round to say they had to do the diag'' test at a cost of £30 to prove the fault...... anyway, long story short, a few f's and q's and "c u next thursday" later and they replaced them under warranty. ......................................................................................................................... same happened last week... i told them to replace the lot when it happened at first !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems at least one has had problems..I know I won't convince you though John....:)

grey_1980 does not say that the same coils went twice.

I had two go at different times and had the whole six replaced, i seem to be the only one that has that carried out.

Since then I have not had another.

Don't think I should say that as next week one will go and I will have to pay for it.

In reality diagnostic should not cost £30.

I think the secret is to keep driving it and not leave it in the garage.......Again you're the only one who seems to do this....:)

Be prepared!

I am also keen to hear if anyone has had a replacement coil fail.

Seems like a VERY important point for our fight with Renault over this issue.

Funny you should say that but I think there may be a hint of truth in there.

i spoke to the local renault dealers today, so unhelpful. they recon they cant booked in for another 2 weeks! it only takes 5 mins to replace the coil. im gonna buy the coil instead and do it myself. its a very simple job to replace the coil. my car is under warrenty but im not waiting 2 weeks for a 5 min job......i will also be buying some spares just incase and keeping a 8mm rachet handy.
