Another 197 steering wheel question

Spike

New Member
I am just toying ith the 197 steering wheel mod, does anyone have the part numbers and suggested prices for both the wheel and airbag. there are a couple from dealers on the bay that seem like a deal but without the air bag. are all the 197 wheels the same?
Which is the best most cost effective way to jump, i fancy the 197 wheel then get my original recovered so i can go back to std if necessary.
I have read the post describing fitting, very helpful.

Hi Spike, I think most of us that have fitted the 197 wheel bought the kit from RPD. From memory it's about £330 for the wheel and airbag, (not cheap but it looks very OEM and has a much nicer feel than even a recovered original fitment wheel). Then factor in about 1hr to fit it. Bens guide on sorting the fitting and connectors is bang on and Phil has some spacing washers the exact size that fit perfectly.

The washer was the only thing I had a problem with fitting mine, as I couldn't fabricate one the right size and the wheel just kept on binding. Phil sent me a washer and it worked first time without any mods.

Also just bare in mind that one of the connectors needs to be re soldered for the new wheel, so swapping back between wheels will need a bit of work doing... Not huge amount of work, but worth baring in mind.
