Am I mad?

Having serious thoughts about selling up. I've wanted a V6 for as long as I could remember, and now I've got one I love it. However, I've just got a new job that is going to require me to work more on weekends. As I'm a teacher too it means that prett much of all my free/hooning time has been taken up.

I bought #200 as a car that could do the short 6 mile commute, but also one I can enjoy at the weekend. Now the fun part has disppeared for the time being I feel it is a waste just using it to go to work. Still loads of fun, and I love driving it, but not what I wanted really.

I've thought about just getting a second car to commute and put the V6 to one side, but I've always been of the opinion that cars are for driving - plus I don't have a garage to store it in.

Anybody else felt similar? Or am I just having a stupid thoughts day?

Please feel free to tell me I'm being an idiot

Buy a £1000 car, use it, abuse it, go to work and back in it. And use the vee for weekends / special occasions. And I think you'll start to appreciate it again.

I have a van for work, and I often drive her 1.2 clio to go to say Asda or see parents. And then when I drive my vee it really is a pleasure. To me, not driving it often makes it more enjoyable when I do drive it.

You'll have seen it time and time again on here, people selling up and then buying another one 6 month later because they miss it.

as a teacher dont you get loads of holidays for V use ........................... [smilie=yay.gif] :violin:

second car for sure ... i use pug 107 all week 1.0 very very cheap to run .... then keep v6 for special outings makes it more special ... and thats what the cars all about

My simple view being prafmatic rather than emotional is ...

If your not getting anything out of the ownership experience and are losing money either by maintenance or depreciation then sell it ...

If you can afford to keep it sat until such time as you think that ownership experience will come back then keep it.

Ncb on a vee or ncb on a people carrier... Know which one I'd rather have...

Mate, I think you'd regret it if you sold the vee. Is it the car itself or just the urge to own other cars in its place?

Think I'm just having a bad day and need to mtfu

RE: being a teacher, my second job is a football coach for a well known team. In the holidays I coach the players as they're not at school, or run fun sessions. I don't actually get 13weeks off (though it is my choice I suppose)

Great post, erm...

Not really losing money as depreciation isn't an issue and they don't cost that much to run.

There's nothing out there at the price that I'd want either. Got no room for it to sit around due to parking at the house.

Cheers

It's more the lack of time to use it how I intended which led to me thinking...

I'll have a word with myself later pal ;)

Go find a nice substantial brick wall and get some sense knocked in!! Then have a serious word with yourself! Six mile commute? get a banger or a bike then keep the vee for enjoyment, investment and to love and cherish!

Got nowhere for a banger, and though I bike to work very occasionally, it's not practical as I go from one job to the other, then getting home later on 2/3 nights a week...

I've come home and Mrs R has just told me I'm being an idiot - she's usually right

Steady with that ban button James

Good good they are usually right :race: ;)

From the replies you're writing, it sounds like you've sort of already made your mind up to sell and are looking for reasons to hold onto it.

One thing I will say is absence doesn't always make the heart grow fonder, especially when you consider the money tied up just sitting there not being used/enjoyed.

You only ever hear from the people that have regretted selling. The are loads of ex-owners out there that no-one hears from because they've not looked back! Tough one.
