Air Con

The air con in my car doesn't deliver cold air - not good for Australian summer days :(

When I turn on the air con, I can hear the compressor clutch engaged and the engine rev changes a little. There is also hissing sound from the dashboard area lasting 20-30 seconds. The air from the vents though, is very much at ambient temperature, not cold.

Pretty sure it's not the hot/cold air flap stuck at hot setting. My 182 sometimes has the flap stuck on hot setting and the air coming out of the vents is hot when that happens.

I read that in Clio 172/182, the compressor clutch does not engage if there is no refrigerant pressure. Is it the same in the V6? If it's so, that means I don't have refrigerant leak and the problem is elsewhere.

Get is regassed but make sure it has dye in it so you can see any leaks. I reckon the chocolate Renault AC rad will have a hole somewhere.

Indeed ... most likely this. Mine's on its way out. Where it sits as the front radiator it takes a lot of punishment.

Thread resurrection but my A/C has stopped working too.

Suspect also that my A/C rad is leaking. Could someone let me know the part number?

Thanks. Ben

It looks like its a common rad across all V6, and a boatload of other Renault chod from Laguna and Megane.

Ebay suggests a plentiful supply.
