Air con pump isn't working

I took my car to have the a/c re-gassed last week as it's given up on me :( The dude checked it & said that it's full.
He got under the car & said that the pump isn't working, nothing happens when I turn the a/c on. [smilie=icon_cry.gif]

I'll check the fuse etc, if it's not that is it likely to be expensive ?? (I have an auto electrician number & a few folk should be able to help me out)

Thanks.

bad connection i expect...

the last car i did was the same..clio 1.6. i vac out the system.. and refill and it worked again..don't ask me why..lol

Do you know which fuse it is at all Clarkie ?

The handbook doesn't say :(

Check the connector on the pump if it gets power when the aircon is switched on. You should be able to check it without the engine running. Turn key ignition on offcourse.

If you get power there, either the em.clutch or the pump is gone. Then it get's expensive.

If there is no power there, then it can be faulty connectors, not likely, or

Fuse, but there is a reason for it to burn,
Pressostat is broke, it's a plug in the airconline with electrical connections,
it should have passthrough connection when there is pressure in the airconlines
more likely to break(it sits somewhere in the front)
The relais which switches on the airconpump,
I don't know where it is located, but probably in or behind the fusebox.

Anyone know where the pump is ?? I can't see it :s i've found the a/c pipes under the car on the drivers side. I can see them run from the front of the car, then they go under the big black plastic cover. That's it.

I haven't been able to get the car up properly (only had the drivers side up) So can't get the cover off. I thought that you could see the pump from under the car though ?

The engine compartment is very compact. You will need take the engine cover off and think you will find it at the front of the engine - if you crawl underneath. You can probably see the pully wheel from under the driver side wheel-arch but that's about all you will see.

The pump is mounted low on the engine on the fueltank side.
I checked it this weekend, since I have the manifolds off anyway, and even then it was hard to reach.

I didn't find a connector close to the pump, like normal situation, so the connector must be somewhere higher in the engine compartment. You can probably reach the cable from the topside, when you remove both engine covers, and follow the cable to see where the connector sits

Logically it should run also through the main connector in the lefthandside of the engine bay.
I'll see if I can find on which pins it gets the powersignal.

Quick update, I've had it re-gassed & the garage claim that it isn't leaking (I was told that if it was leaking the pump wouldn't fire up)

They said that there is fault showing on the map for the a/c and they know roughly where it is, but not 100% they claim to have chechked the fuses & they are all fine.

They want the car for a day while they find the problem (apparently their auto a/c electircian or some gibberish wasn't in)

However, i've already shelled out £70 for a regas & new a/c oil (I didn't even know a/c had oil [smilie=doubt.gif] ) The garage looked ok, but I wasn't 100% sure about them :s (they were a bit delboy despite seeming to have a good rep)

In light of this i'd rather not give them anymore cash, so will be looking at it myself, it sounds a really hard job to do, but i'll give it a try, :) (It could just be the connection after all)

If anyone has any other tips at all please can you let me know.

Thanks.
