ABS light staying on!

Ollie1

New Member
Hi guys my ABS light came on a few weeks ago, I have tried to have the codes read but the bloke tried 2 different computers but couldn't access the abs unit, he connected with the car read the dtc's of which there was a few but none to do with the abs, they were to do with airbags he tried resetting them but they wouldn't reset.
The abs light came on when I was driving down a duel carrage way doing 60 I went too accelerate and the speedo glitched and said I was doing 40 :s I was Definatly not doing 40! When this happend the abs light came on So I pulled over and did the speedo reset the speedo was fine after but abs light still on!

Sorry for the essay someone please help!
Thankyou :)

I'll mention a couple of most obvious things from reading forum posts on this subject.

ABS ring on a driveshaft broken?
Connector underneath drivers seat is loose?

Have the very same issue right now. ABS a bit intermittent and light flashing. Then on long fast straight the speedo needle went from 90ish to 30. Very disconcerting. The ABS ring at rear is broken. Problem is the £600 quote to replace the full driveshaft !!!! Surely someone has found a source for new ABS rings without replacing the complete d/shaft
Please help. Anyone ???

Yep, I've had the reluctor rings done ;)
See these guy LINK
Had the ABS light come up on mine and as mentioned the near side rear ABS ring had decided to go walkabout!!!!!!! Better than replacing the full drive shaft from Renault and look really well machined :approve:

ollie 1, try changing the nsf abs sensor, it sounds like thats the fault , and , mrbluesky, try trigger rings .com but you will have to quote the no of teeth.
any case i can scan these as my unit does read all the ecu's happy to do it and only charge £30, i am in nottingham. i can meet on the motorway for extra beer tokens.

Hi Russo, thanks for the recommendation on the ABS rings. Duly purchased & fitted by my local guy. He said they went on no problem and I've saved a small fortune by keeping the drive shafts. Only problem is that his computer can't re-code the ABS. Ollie, is that what you were referring to with your offer ??

Sorry gents, It was Spike who made the suggestion around recoding the ABS not Ollie. Too late in the evening for me to be let loose on these high powered computer things !!!

Lol the bloke who tried too read the codes on mine couldn't access the abs, I have since spoken too Scott from sg motorsport and he said you cannot read codes from the abs you just have to change things until the light goes off, the car is going to sg for cambelt change in a couple of weeks so I will get Scott too have a look for me, cheers for the info spike.
