A rattle in third and fourth

Hi all,

I have a MK2 and have developed a rattle coming what i'm 99% sure is the gearbox. It only happens in third and fourth gear and doesn't sound great. Has anyone had this issue? Is it serious?

Congratulations Sam! Your tenth post in 18 months... your now into double figures. :badgrin:
What mileage has your Vee covered? Does it the rattle continue when you depress the clutch? Is it at certain revs? Have you modified youe Vee? Does the effect occur at any speed in 3rd/4th?
For the record the clutch is usually more vunerable than the box...
 
Thanks Kett. Yeah I am a bit of a heavy poster.
The car has done 40K and the rattle doesn't happen when the clutch is dipped. No not a certain revs it does it all though the range. The higher the revs the more it rattles I haven't modded the vee at t happens at all speeds.

What do u reckon?
