If anyone fancies one, this may be a cheap way in! estimate £15000 - £18000

GATES OPEN 10AM. AUCTION STARTS 1PM. ADMISSION £5

Direct from a ten year period of storage and requiring recommissioning. Following a change of all relevant fluids and filters, the car is now in running order, showing good oil pressure and holding temperature. The findings of it's initial road test will be published on line in the coming days. We are informed that a new clutch was installed prior to the car's prolonged storage. The cars 57,000 km are warranted but the service history has been lost whilst in storage.

This was one was quite interesting.......had been tracking it for a while......went for £18,200 in the end (£19,110 with fees!)

Is it worth it......I am not sure.....seems like a lot of work to put right

You weren't the only person watching it lol ;). I had a browse of the Renault Alpine Owners Club and saw that Mr. Dell thinks it was way too much for that particular car.

I know, I met Stephen at the auction, and another couple of members from RAOC. In the end went to a (German?) phone bidder. Took a punt but seems like the phone bidder was adamant on getting it.

Needed a completely new interior, a complete repaint and an overhaul on the mechanicals, especially the fuel system (it was quite sluggish starting and none of the electrics worked), but the shell had little or no rust. I was going to get it and rebuild it to the Cevennes spec (colour scheme, interior and upgraded suspension first, and engine later), so had it been around the £16K mark it would have worked well. Oh, and needed a new roof as well since one of the owners had put in an aftermarket sunroof - why to people do that?!

Looks like it is going to cost a bit to get a good one now :(

French cars shouldn't have sunroofs full stop if my experience of them is anything to go by lol [smilie=icon_aaargh.gif]

Its unfortunate, but sunroofs were a fashion accessory of the 80's... If a car didnt come with one from the factory, there were oodles of people out there that were more than willing to fit one for you.

My Strada 130 Abarth was unfortunate enough to be a victim of such stupidity. :( Other than than it was in A1 condition...

Real shame though since it really messes up the rigidity of the shell and also the whole purpose of such a car! Oh well, at least there are some around that haven't had part of its roof hacked off.

True OR False: Original (LHD) 5's came with only the driver's side door mirror (i.e. no door mirror on the passenger's side)? Certainly true for the R5 Turbo 2's, but does it apply to the whole of the R5 range, and possibly others?

This T2 is now for sale in Germany in exactly the same condition as it was sold at auction on 2nd June: LINK

"R5 Turbo, unverbastelt original. Steht seit 10 Jahren. Sehr gute Basis zum Restaurieren, läuft sehr schön."

Google translation: "R5 turbo without tinkering, original. Stands for 10 years. Very good base for restoration, runs very nicely."
