[30 Jul, 2014] ECM causes French Invasion of East Coast Pirates (Great Yarmouth)

Hello Folks,
This is an exploratory post to gauge interest. The East Coast Pirates start their
Wednesday Evening meets from 4th July at the Joyland American Diner in
Great Yarmouth. From the end of July, there's a fireworks show on from 10pm.

So guys, how many cars can we muster to join them on Wednesday 30th July?
Please spread the word as much as you can; doesn't have to be turbo powered,
so this includes Twingo, Clio and Megane cars with a RenaultSport badge. I do
need to have a fairly firm idea of numbers to arrange this with ECP. If we can
muster more than 10 cars, then I'll make enquiries for our own event, probably
on Thursday 31st July. The Diner owner is a car nut and would probably let us
reserve an area of his private car park.

Apart from the cars, the food served at the Diner is purty darned good and
also good value for money! So, it's bring the missus if you wanna. You're also
welcome if you want to come for the nosh and fireworks but not display your
transport on site. Though the point is to bring something to display if you can...

Cut off date for this exploration - in other words whether or not we achieve
the numbers - is Sunday 29 June 2014...

Regards,
Steve

Hopefully few more of the usual suspects, Handy, Oli, JP, Tricky & Stu maybe up for a burger?! ;-)
Boy , oh boy, do you lads play the waiting game!

Which means that I need some fairly firm commitments before I go
ahead. I've been caught out before with "hopefully" and "maybe" where it
looked like 10 cars +occupants would be turning up. Imagine my sheer and
total embarrassment when it was just me and one other (who had to leave
early).

This should be an evening to look forward to. Good food, good cars, good
company and pleny of banter. Instead, it's just a "will they, won't they?"
nightmare. Andy and I have widely promoted this and there have been
just 4 commentators. How disappointing does this have to get?

Sorry if this post is so negative, but this isn't the first time, though it
probably will be my last, as it's no fun :(

Regards,
Steve

Right so far there is us 3 defo in, needs to be promoted via the ECM page. Steve I can understand where you are coming from,we will make it a runner as cant beat a Yarco seafront meet!

Steve - try to keep calm fella - I mentioned this a while ago in person with you. If people are not interested / are unable to attend, this is fine and has been the norm for 10+ years where the ECM is concerned and other areas for that matter. Arrange for those 100% ers and if others turn up, they can try to get in / be a part of it and if the y manage to tag on great, otherwise - tough luck, you should have committed.

I used to get so angry arranging stuff for years where 10+ would say yes yes yes, there there I would be Billy no mates, which is infuriating at 5.30AM at the 5 ways round about after 1 hours drive.

So design for the 100% and stick to it, it's the only way. And if money is a concern, get payment before hand to safeguard against loss, as with the T-shirts etc.

Please don't be too disheartened - this is the way of it.

Andy

I'll get on it Carl.

There is also a local Magnificent Machinery Show in Hickling later this year which I'll be event organiser for.

Coolio, will find out from HKS, not sure what he may bring lol. Any ideas what time on 30th July? Also Hickling was a great local event last Sept, cheeky stand? ;-)
