197 Steering Wheel - Advice Please

Hi guys, I'm fitting a 197 steering to the Vee (well, Alex at Carlton is). He has the guide but says that the airbag connections are different. Has anyone else had this issue?

From memory one of the connectors is the same ( as in colour fit & size ) the other requires a small fowling lug removing from the connector in the wiring loom to fit the new bag.

See point 22. on fitting guide :approve: Ben's Guide

Ok, sort of sorted out. The only problem now is that the airbag light is permanently on. Has anyone else had this problem? :ihatpcs:

No pal they shouldn't come on pal. Check connectors again and make sure they are right on. Disconnect battery when doing so though

And as the guide states, following successful installation 'drive into a wall to test the airbag works' :-)

One of the previous owners did that :)

Hopefully I'll get the airbag issue sorted. Just sprayed the steering wheel plaque in Technical Grey 8)

Ed, have you checked the seat air bag resistors? May have moved / dislodged something during fitting the new wheel.
Provided the spacers washers for quite a few people doing this mod and can't recall anyone having the warning light come on after fitting the new wheel.

Thanks Russo

Think we've worked out the problem, Steve (previous owner) had a Momo wheel on and due to there being no airbag had to fit some resistors. Looks like they'll need to be removed then we should be ok.
