"Have you seen how much fire comes out of your exhaust? Its like a lynx can sprayed over a lighter"

A quote from a mate that made my day today. Must get the camera on the rear bumper! Its running very well, loving the low charge temps...

Had a play with a couple of rose joints today to help support the wastegate. Only had an hour and a half so not quite finished off properly yet.

I took some stuff to my fave machinist for @la21t@la21t so decided to have some of the 12v bits vapour blasted. Very pleased. This is bare alloy finish which I can paint....or not.
I also had the breather plate inside the rocker cover removed, cleaned, and the pressed pins were removed and tapped for torx screws to make it a removable element. You never know what is hiding in these parts of your engine. It only takes one bit of grit in the wrong place to ruin everything... 20150307_095958.jpg 20150307_095952.jpg 20150306_103210.jpg 20150306_103202.jpg 20150306_103158.jpg 20150306_103153.jpg

Cheat. Just bang in a big power f4. Easily done , much cheaper and dare I say it - more power ?

Was at Renault World Series in spa two years ago and met a French or Belgium guy had not much english but what I could understand him is that has a company called team coin coin that tune 21turbos and do twelve valve conversions his car was 2.2l bottom end with twelve valve head 2 bar boost 500hp and that's daves goal.
YouTube team coin coin 21turbos and will find some vids regards rob

I am with you Rob. I know what Daves goal is , and how he is achieving it. I am defiantly not knocking it ! :)

I just feel with modern tech ( as you well know ! ) its often easier , cheaper and more reliable .

Yeah undoubtedly I could get more for my money out of a newer lump like an F4R, but it's not a Renault 21 engine.

TCC have an own forum, but it's in french. They have lots of big BHP 21's running, 12 and 8v heads.

Yup, I do keep an eye on their stuff. Would like to beat them all too, but not so sure I have the cash needed to do so, I'd be happy to make 400 without nitrous to be honest.

I bet your 12v would already make 400 only firing on 3 cylinders;-)

    Been tinkering.

The 26 year old clutch was having a mardy at 18psi on the dyno and since then has been slowly getting worse. I was down to 14psi still with slippage. Had some track time booked for today so Friday afternoon after work I decided to take the engine out for the first time since I put it in after the scrapyard rescue (that's 2002 it went in!).
Of course, replacing it with a standard one would be silly so something a bit tastier went in. I bought a whole car to get my hands on this bad boy lol.
    Old one...

I've also been toying with the idea of improving the washer jets. The OE ones are...well...old and shit. My S60 has ace washers so I bought an S60 washer pump and some genuine Volvo washer jets (fucking fifteen quid a pair!).
I've installed the pump and wired it up, will update with guide pics and vid when the jets are on but already the new pump has made a big difference. Quite pleased.

Was out at Silverstone today. New clutch in, my life....the car was flying. Perfect weather...dry, cool and sunny.
    Ready? Lets go!!!
    Used and abused. 20150322_095529.jpg

But then as I was chasing down a Porker (and I was about to have him) he lost his shit and fucked it up. Red flag. Quite pleased though cos it means he was pushing, and I was catching him. Smug :)
I was hanging off his passenger quarter on a wide line, planning on cutting back and underneath him with a straighter line onto the pit straight, using the 4wd grip to boost hard off the tight right. Would have worked too....probably.

Got back out but a few laps later another Porsche chump managed to make a fine job of adjusting his rear track and camber on the pit straight. Weapons grade dickhead.

That was that. Session ended right there, but the 21 hadn't missed a beat and it was pulling like a train. The brakes were splendid and it sounded immense. Apparently I'm told it created a bit of "...I think its a Renault 21..." type conversation on the pit wall :)

Gave it a good caning on the way home too. Brilliant.

Gratuitous video of me chasing down the Pork pre-spin. He's obviously not track experienced looking at his lines, but still, I retain bragging rights :D LOL.
