Well after being without a renaultsport for a year I had a bit of an itch to scratch....
Then along came this fine example of a mercury silver r26.

It came with full history & was mega cheap, just what I was looking for. I already had a full r26r interior including full roll cage & number plaques.

The car that all the bits came from was nimbus Gray so the project started. The car was stripped & all painted in nimbus.

Once once the card was painted I set about sorting the r26r exterior bits I was missing so I ordered a set of wheels

Also a set of r headlights. The r wheel I had was showing signs of wear so I sent it off for a re-furb.

I also have a forged engine with 83mm cp pistons, catcams conrods with acl race bearings & arp rod bolts.

The engine is going to be phase 2 of my project once the car is up & running.

Wow you don't do things by half do you :)

What happened to the R26R donor car any idea? I imagine any of those that get broken up get savaged for parts!

I have everything from #27. It had a nasty accident with a tree.

Well yesterday I finished fabricating the brackets for the front of the cage so today I fitted it along with the false floor

I also fitted the drivers seat but I still need to fit the amp to run the 6" focal components in the rear quarters & the 5"jl audio components in the doors so as it will be under the passenger seat that will stay out for now.

I also fitted the r26r dash badge & gear surround today.

Now my r26r headlights & forge intercooler have arrived I can get the front end built up.

Can I ask, and tell me to sod off if i'm being nosey, if this is "economically viable" as opposed to just buying an R26R?

It all depends what you can get the r bits for. I only paid 3.5k for a standard r26 which is a absolute bargain to start with.
So in answer to your question mine owes me about half what a r26r costs now.

Fair enough, then the answer is "Yes", plus you can hammer the crap out of it and not have to worry about abusing a special edition lol

As far as I'm concearned it's an absolute bargain. It's better than hammering the m3 round a circuit.

    Looks perfect.
Is there any difference between this and a genuine one ?

It has auto lights n wipers, different clock display & pockets in the door cards. Besides that everything is correct.

    I think.
