- Engine Overview

In this section you can find an overview of the engines used in the 480.
All B18 en B20 engines have 4 cylinders in line, fitted with 2 valves per cylinder. The cylinder volume of the 1.7i and 1.7turbo engines is 1721cc, with a bore and stroke of 81 x 83.5mm. For the 2.0i, the volume is increased to 1998cc. Both bore and stroke got bigger; 82.7 x 93mm.

B18E/ES (ES has EGR)
80kW @ 5800 rpm
140Nm @ 4000 rpm
compression: 10.5:1

B18F (with kat)
70kW @ 5800rpm
140Nm @ 4000rpm
compression: 9.5:1 (bigger volume in the piston)

B18FT (turbo)

The intake and exhaust valves have the following diameters:

1.7i
intake: 38.10mm exhaustt: 32.50mm

1.7 turbo
intake: 38.20mm exhaust: __.__mm

2.0i
completely different valves than the 1.7 engines. The 2.0i has the combustionchamber in the head instead and in the piston.

Additional information from another 480 owner.

Richmod
Richmodding the ECU's will give you noticable more power and torque.
peak torque will be around 225 to 250 Nm.
max power is around 170 to 175 bhp.
for more information contact rpruen. His e-mail adress can be found on the 480
forum.

Fastchip
The ECU of the 400 series is based upon Renault ECU's. FASTCHIP has put forth an unparalleled effort into Renault ECU modification, which allowed them to create R-tuner.
R-tuner makes the factory ecu programmable and easy to set up starting from the standard factory mapping or a preloaded map file.
R-tuner allows you to properly adjust the ECU setting to suit your engine modifications perfectly.

With R-tuner you can:
- adjust the rev limiter
- run the engine under open- or closed loop conditions
- shift the whole fuel table
- shift the whole ignition table
- adjust the fuel MAP
- adjust the ignition MAP

Cams and pulleys for the F7R
Piper Cams produces cams and pulleys for the F7R and F7P engines (Renault 1.8 and 2.0 16v).
For every day steet use, a 'fast road'cam is adviced. A vernier pulley is adviced when different cams are fitted.

CSC Marmitte
SCS Marmitte produce handmade silencers and piping for exhaustsystems. Every car is tested on a bench with the csc silencers mounted. The use of robust materials insure high quality and durability.
All silencers are approved and have received all certifications.
CSC silencers are available for the 480, with a pipe diameter of 54,5. Cat-back for the Turbo versions.
