Modern Fitting Megane 225/r26 Diamond performance a pillar pod

Fitting guide for diamond performance a pillar pod (Big thanks to @Paul B for supplying)

Tools & parts needed -
Small and medium flat head screwdrivers
Small torx bits
Zip ties and Snips
Soldering iron or crimps for wiring
Boost gauge - i used a mocal 2 bar gauge and fitting kit to suit
1mtr 4mm id silicone vacuum hose

Disclaimer - i take no responsibility if this goes wrong ! fairly easy though set aside a couple of hours to fit it nicely.

1. Offer the pod up to the a pillar and mark out where it fits best.

2. Remove a pillar trim, first of all carefully pull the rubber door seal away from the trim/dash, remove the sun visor clip with a screwdriver as pictured below.

The next job is to unclip the trim from the a pillar - 3x clips. I found this moderately difficult as it was very tight but steady away and it pops off.

3. Mark and drill a hole for the vac pipe and wiring for your boost gauge on the a pillar trim behind where your pod fits. Make the hole a decent size maybe 10mm diameter so plenty of room.

4. Glue the pod to the a pillar. I recommend mitre bond, its basically a 2 part superglue and very strong (about £5 from screwfix etc). Place a thin line of glue on the inside edges of your pod, spray the activator on the a pillar trim and place the pod on the a pillar trim holding it exactly where it needs to go. Make sure its in the right place when you place it down or your in trouble as the glue goes off in ten seconds when in contact with the activator and you won be able to get it off again easily !

5. Refit your a pillar with pod, push the bottom pin into the dash first then carefully click it back into place and refit the sun visor.

6. Now the fun part of routing your vac hose through to the engine bay. I looked all over for a hole in the bulkhead on the drivers side but could not find one. Not keen on drilling holes blind so routed the pipe through the a pillar, down the side of the dash then under the dash zip tied to the heater duct then underneath the stereo (keep pipe out of the way so it cannot drop onto the pedals etc). Next remove the glove box (5 torx screws iirc) and you will see the rubber bung where the wiring goes through the bulkhead into the engine bay. On the upper part of the bung there is a small hole that had 2 wires going through, i pushed a bit of 4mm od hard plastic pipe through this - its tight but snug fit. This brings the pipe out into the engine bay next to the servo.

7. Push some 4mm id vacuum hose onto the short stub of pipe that you have just fitted next to the servo. Locate the rubber vac hose going to the stock recirc valve and carefully pull it off the plastic t piece/pipe, if the original renault clip is still fitted you will need a screwdriver to pop it off. You are then going to tee your boost gauge pipe into this, Fit your t-piece between the rubber hose to recirc valve and onto the plastic pipe as pictured below. Zip tie all the joins on the pipes so they do not come off.

8. Route your wiring for the gauge light through the hole in the a pillar and connect your vac pipe to the back of gauge and push your gauge home. I tapped into the asr/cruise switch for the gauge light, the plate pops out of the dash with a small screwdriver. Using a test meter i determined the blue wire is for the light and black is the earth so connect your light wiring to them (solder/crimp terminals etc) then your light will come on with the dash lights. (I had to use blue and red wiring as this is all i had lol)

9. Now test time ! Start the engine and the gauge should settle down to a negative reading on idle (vacuum). Take it for a test drive and make sure it works ok. I had an issue where the boost gauge needle was rattling like feck on peak boost. If you have this issue you need to put a restrictor in the vac line. I used a 1mm hole renault 5 gt carb jet i had lying about and no more issues ! Restrictor pictured below.
