So I collected this a few months back, from Chester way. Been sat in a garage for a bit, with the associated issues. Had the same owner for over a decade, its a very much loved motor to be fair. Trouble is, the owner and his wifey emigrated to Australia 2 years ago. As the crow flies, 10,265 miles away.

The prop was already off so I dragged it home on my towing dolly.

    Dumped it on the drive

So, you have to wonder why I hauled it from Chester to Coventry. WELL. First off, the brakes were spooned, the accumulator pump wasnt working.

Made access easier by removing the header tank bracket (riveted in) so I reattached it with rivnuts

    Front calipers....oh dear

    Much better

    Rears were grotty too

    Cleaned up OK though

    Full belt service

    New turbo oil feed pipe

Rockin with it's mates, all in various states of repair. Three Quadra in this picture, a rare event!

I did a few more things on it, gearbox oil, front shocks and whatnot, and after a bit of tinkering it was time for it to go.

Back on a trailer, for delivery. Now, this is where the story takes a turn for the better, because where normally it'd be off to a new owner or similar on this occasion it's not. Its going here. That big blue motherhumper in the background is a ship....more specifically, a car transporter :)

This is the last time (to now), I saw this fine beast. It's the last time it will be seen on these shores, because it's off to live in Australia. I know a lot of us have a bond with our motors, but every now and again it's great to see someone go above and beyond the call of duty (so to speak).
Last time the ship checked in, Feb01st, it was passing Sierra Leone on the way toward the cape at the bottom of Africa. Arrival due early March.

Keep your fingers crossed boys and girls!

Blimey that's an attachment and a half, to get it shipped the other side of the world!
What sort of cost is involved in the shipping?

A lot. If they had released them over there it would be cheaper to buy one I think.

    But they didn't.

So this gets to be the absolute only one in the whole country, and thats a big-ass country!
