Due to lack of time and anyone to sort the welding for me, this project is up for sale.

Please pm me for further details.

@craig21t@craig21t if you can get it to Doncaster, I can get someone to weld it ..

    Hi Andy,

Thanks for the offer, but the transport costs would be high.

I have had quite a bit of interest in the car, and after listing what I have done (and spent so far) I think I may regret it but I really do not have the time for it.

Some who can weld, could put it all back together over a couple of weekends.

    The car is now sold.

Hopefully the new owner will enjoy finishing it off and enjoy driving it.

Just looked back over the thread, the rust is not as bad I was expecting and more fettling to the engine than I'd remembered so a good little project.
Who's the secret buyer? Give me a shout if it falls through.
Also, has the red donor been scrapped now?

Hope I'm not treading on your toes here, Haz, but it is I...

Just need to sort the logistics out now!

Not at all if it's going to be saved, good luck getting it sorted.

    Legend.

So this car was owned by Tony Demitriou back in the day (early 2000's), then Roger Hewitt bought it, then it went to his mate Paul White. After that Paul sold it to Chris down south who stripped it out and tuned it up even more with some shiny bits. He then moved on to other stuff after the 21 snapped its cambelt. It sat for a bit and then he offered it me for a price I couldnt refuse, so I bought it just for the clutch setup on it. I kept the Pro-race 1.2's, engine and turbo and clutch.
The clutch setup is now in my car, the head casting with the bent bits removed went to a chap off here, I forget his name. The billet cam and steel rods went to @Andyquadra@Andyquadra the pistons and liners to @la21t@la21t . The crank had started to pick up so I scrapped the block from use and use it for dev stuff.
The turbo was leaking oil from the back seal so I rebuilt it myself then @r5gordini@r5gordini bought it as it has the proper 21 manifold flange fitting with the cosworth style back end. @Craig Righton@Craig Righton bought the tubular inconel manifold back to go with the car and its exhaust but sourced a turbo from elsewhere (possibly Lee or Andy).

All in all I made my money back selling off those bits, everyone got huge bargains, and I got a free helix clutch setup out of it which was exactly what I wanted. The rest of the car and bunch of spares I didnt want (a block, a head and some other stuff) I gave to Craig on the condition it was put back on the road and not scrapped, and thats where his project thread starts.

I'm gutted for Craig that he never got to finish it, it's one of those things I guess, but I am really pleased its going to someone who can take it on and get it sorted. We're all fighting rust now so it's not as much if but when it needs attention! Mine will be getting stripped and welded up as soon as I have a garage to do it in lol.

Best of luck @jamesy12345@jamesy12345 (youre gonna need it hahaha)

Cheers fella that is the plan

Thanks Dave for the comments. I've had a secret hankering after one mainly due to following your project thread.

Now then....there's two ways to go with this & I would appreciate any ideas:

    1. Stick all the spares that will fit inside the car, inside the car & get it transported to my secret storage location (parents garden).

    B. Get the shell lifted to a decent body shop & go from there. Anyone got any recommendations?

    Exsqueeze me? Baking powder?

    incolnel.

resists high temps better than steel / ti at a thinner thickness.

Its the ultimate stiff to build from TBH

hehe I know that mate just wasn't expecting it, is that the manifold in the pic below.....i.e. the one I think I have just bought

if so he should swap it for a standard one & weigh it in, i'd be none the wiser :)

Thats the one. It holds it out a lot further than the normal manifold, which matches with the exhaust on the car and hence why Craig bought it off me because it saved a lot of exhaust fecking about.
Inconel is horrifyingly expensive in comparison to Steel.

If you want a hand putting it back together I could probably assist, though there is a bit of a queue at the minute :)

Awwww, bless! They are huge fun though and you won't find a car thats more sympathetic to being driven like an absolute tosser. Your biggest danger is going from the 21 to the T2 and lobbing it on its roof because you were used to the 21 looking after you.

James, It comes with exhaust manifold pictured as it matches the 3" downpipe and side exit exhaust:ag:

Cheers fella. The 5 is pretty forgiving....in the dry! My orange volvo though I can drive like a bell end any weather & it always saves the day. Hopeless at putting the power down though so the Quadra can be put back together & become the new daily. Eventually!!

Wow I got me some inconel. And a side exit exhaust! Life is good

When I visited Shotgun, Bastard and Dribble's esteemed school of etiquette, I learned that the modern gentleman must always offer project cars back to the seller - 'first dibs' is automatically given to the previous owner - if a sale is ever considered after completion
