So, looking into booking a roadtrip for 10 days starting next Thursday. Rough outline plans are to head to Paris first, then a friends the day after, basically working our way to the French south coast including Monaco and Marseille then heading west along the coast to Barcelona then to my mums in Valencia.

Cheeky 2 day stop there then head to Madrid, Bilbao then work our way up the French coast driving through La Rochelle, Le Mans and back to Calais.

So the biggest thing is the toll roads.... Avoiding them, does anyone know what sites to look on in advance? Looking at booking the ferry tonight.

If you do end up driving the French toll-roads, get yourself a Sanef tag...

ViaMichelin website/app is also good for routing through France without hitting the motorways. Saying that, most TomTom SatNavs have an 'Avoid Motorways' option.

Dover to Dunkirk on DFDS seaway, 4am. It's the cheapest option plus it keeps me away from Calais now thinking about it

Go to Dover via the M2, avoid m20 at all costs.... Literally in Ashford it takes well over and hour to get to get to the other side, its faster to walk!

As above, set nav to avoid motorways to avoid tolls. Always worked for me, though sometimes when you have a long haul its quicker and easier to just stump up. Although i'd not pay it regularly as a one off the tolls aren't THAT bad.

You followed the news lately mate?

Farmers in France are on strike and blocking all roads, ripping off truck drivers etc.....
