Ok so i have got yet another car to play with. I do tend to get through them quickly lol.

Anyway the car, she is a renault clio 182 trophy, shes had a hard life and in the past has had an accident so is registered as a cat c, a problem for some but not for me, allows me to get a decent car for a little less than they usually trade hands for. Due to it being in an accident in the past the front end is a little tatty and has been put together as a track toy, would be great to keep her as a track slag but for me to keep her she needs to be road and family friendly. There are a few bits i will keep as is for myself though. The car came to me as a pile of bits really but with 2 buckets in there that needed to come out for the original owner. Luckily for me loads of the original parts have been kept. Sound deadening is all out as were all the belts and fixings so first job was to remove what was needed and then start to refit everything.

The car came with some extra goodies too ready for me to fit, braided brake lines, uprated engine mounts, sabelt steering wheel (will revisit this later to keep cruise control) and also has a decat and janspeed (i think) cat back fitted. Thus sounds quite fruity :grin.gif:

The original external res suspension is also shot, so that will be taken off for now and replaced with a set of coilovers to get me around safely, I will probably put the sus in the shed until i have some spare cash to get them rebuilt.

Anyway the plan is to put the car back together to be a usable fun and track competent (if i decide to play) road car. Its been a while since ive had a play in a clio but FCS and @Ricardo@Ricardo kinda made me hanker for another. I will keep things updated here as i go along. Best get reading up on what all the cool kids do to these nowadays. Here's some pics :dance.gif:

one thing i will note though, a clio with a trophy spoiler is a pain in the ass!!!!!! the boot has shorter struts to stop the bigger spoiler hitting the roof by the looks of it, and even jacked up like it is i keep smashing my head off the boot lid!!!

I can see why, it was built to be a great handling clio, why not strip it? I would if I didn't need the back seats lol

Nice. A Clio Trophy is another box I want to tick (along with an R26). Been saying that for about the last 5 years though, but maybe one day...

you'll need to add the rs meggy 275 R there to the list too. This one wont be a show queen while i own it, from what i can tell most trophy's seem to be treasured but not used in anger

the pics make it look better than it is, but it will do for now. took it for a drive this eve, temporary suspension isnt here yet and its actually scary to drive at the moment when doing anything more than pootling along. Hopefully ill sort that in the next few days and all will be good for some fun

Glad you are liking her, it won't take too much to make it into a nice car. It has a good motor in this one, and does go well!

Great project Adey, and a really nice looker. I do keep looking in the Clio / Meggy direction. But Fluffy and Red (92 mini cooper s) are my 2 loves.

This will be very nice once you've finished Adey, and I agree I reckon a nice map to make sure she's running good would be perfect :D

Suspension swapped out for some cheapo coilovers, and tbh they feel really good! The original suspension on the car is shot and dangerous, had apex lowering springs on the front and what to look like standard 1*2 rear springs, major rake! That with one of the fronts having no fluid left made it dangerous to drive, whipped them off for now for refurb in the future.

It does take away what was special about the trophy but at least the car is usable and safe for now =D
