Just bought one of these and looking for some advice on a few bits .It needs a new front spring £100+ but the ride is too harsh anyway so looking for something a tad softer but in keeping .Lots on Ebay but can anyone recommend a decent full set ? Can go lower ? I think std 172 is only 3mm diff height to cup anyways ?
Also needs some new front rubber so again what's best suited ? Car is hack for Me Dawny mostly but I might be nicking it from time to time .......

Eibach are the ones everybody raves about for the rs clios, two types available but you want the ones with the shorter drop. The full set is still cheaper than 1 new from Renault, although new shocks are cheap as chips so might be worth refreshing the whole set up while you're in the area if the ride is harsh.

I had conti contact sport 3s on mine and could fault them as a daily tyre

They're the ones, pro kit. Might want to google the part number to confirm. The others are red iirc.

Can't go wrong at that price, just check the rear springs are included as they're not mentioned.

I had the Eibach Proline springs on my 172 full fat daily, good ride on the standard shocks to be fair. I also had a 172 which when I bought it had Apex lowering springs on, looked great just a rather crashy ride so swapped back to oe cup springs. I did have to source another pair of front cup springs from cliosport as one snapped and didnt fancy paying £100 for one spring so might be worth a look on there with the white/yellow markings.

Great little cars for a daily so took the next step and bought a Trophy, has Eibach Sportlines on the rear which are red and good aswell!

I'm having a pair of OE cup dampers and a set of cooksport springs on mine, all for around £200 brand new. Can't go wrong for that price.

Conti tyres are a good shout on the Cup, I had a set fitted ( 195-45-16) Cooksport seem to get a lot of yes votes, Apex good for the drop but a few 'crashy' comments. To be fair new OE cup springs are a decent price along with the dampers

Bills are racking up .....New discs and pads all round £128 ,wheels refurbed£200 ,two Avons for the front £140 ,rear box hanger £7 and I've just got a silver bumper off the bay for to respray £78 and I need to find a glovebox door .
Always the same when you get a new motor.Old ones get little or no attention but a new face always grabs your attention

I'm breaking a phase 1 at the minute Lee, check out if the bits you need are the same, think glovebox probably is. And don't lower too much , the standard set up is very well judged for road use. The Phase 1 I have handles like a bag of excrement on lowered springs compared to a standard set up, ride on standard suspension is very good for a stiffly sprung small hatch. In my opinion what you gain in grip lowering these you lose in predictability once you go beyond the limit of grip.

Still got love for the 172 Cup as had one for nearly 6 years and currently got a Trophy. Great looking car and whenever I see one go past in Mondial blue it makes me want another. Found genuine exhaust mounts last loads longer than pattern part replacements, original Cup suspension in good order is bang on, they spent a fortune refining/developing it.
